Lecture: Stars, the building blocks of the Universe + Stargazing

Stellar astrophysics is a central element in our understanding of the universe. As stars evolve, they impact their environments in large scales, driving the chemical evolution of galaxies, providing energetic feedback through powerful stellar winds and energetic supernovae, and emitting most of the light we use in astrophysical observations. In this talk I will discuss the basic physical processes that drive the evolution of stars from their birth until the possible formation of compact objects such as neutron stars and black holes, and the key uncertainties that come into play in present day research.

The stargazing will take place after the lecture.
